Emma Thompson
Emma Thompson
Why do we love Emma?

A one-time stand-up comedienne who is as at home with Shakespeare as she is in comedies and period dramas, Emma Thompson has made a career out of playing strong women. The child of a theater-director father and actress mother, Emma began acting at Cambridge University with the comedy troupe Footlights. She soon found her way to British television where she she met her eventual husband, Kenneth Branagh. Their collaborations on Shakespeare projects brought the Bard to a new generation of filmgoers. Seeking a new challenge after their marriage ended, Emma followed several award-winning film performances by completing her lifelong dream of adapting Jane Austen's novel, Sense and Sensibility for the screen. A true wit and class act, Emma continues to carve out a remarkable niche as both an actor and writer.
